Environmental Health and Safety Specialist needed for one of the top manufacturing companies in East Tennessee.  This is a Direct Hire opportunity and offers and excellent benefits package.  Starting salary range is $44,000 to $60,000 (depending on experience, education, and training).  Position is located near Morristown, TN.

Job Description:
The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for the company’s safety and environmental programs.  Developing, planning and implementing safety policies and procedures to comply with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.  Documenting and ensuring ISO 14001 Environmental Standard Programs.  Safety training. Environmental training.  Leading accident investigations.  Managing worker’s compensation claims. Maintaining facilities safety and environmental signage.  Participate in company 5S program.  Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.  Monitor facility and manufacturing facility for safety hazards and hazardous conditions.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong oral and written communication abilities
• Knowledge of OSHA/TOSHA and EPA standards
• Function within a team environment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experienced in workplace accident prevention and investigation
• Detail oriented
• Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information

Education and Training:

• Minimum Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree is highly preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience
• Two years of experience within a manufacturing environment
