TOOLING MANAGER – Hot Stamping
Tooling Manager needed for a heavy industrial manufacturing company located in Northeast, Tennessee. Candidates must have experience in a Hot Stamping environment and also have hands on experience working on Tooling and Dies in a heavy industrial environment. Job Description:
Managing the tool room and 40+ personnel in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility which provides support for tooling maintenance and repair for heavy industrial hot stamping dies and tooling.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing hot stamping tool and die department
- Hot Stamping experience is mandatory
- Manage 40-60 employees in a heavy industrial tool and die environment
- Ensure that production operations are fully supported by tool room associates
- Assure completion of engineering changes per customer specifications
- Work to continuously improve tooling, minimize downtime, and reduce scrap
- Participate in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process with engineering
- Assist in evaluation & selection of tooling vendors and tooling process for new programs
- Promote and assure safe operation and maintenance of tool room equipment
- Promote good housekeeping and “5S” activities
- Monitor and address safety & environmental concerns within the tool room
- Demonstrate, support, recognize and reward teamwork
- Develop and maintain TS16949 & ISO14001 procedures and work instructions for tool room
- Assures that tool room is ready to pass system and process audits at any time
- Manage apprentice tool & die and machinist program
- Create and implement Continuous Improvement suggestions
- Lead tool room team to ensure that business plan goals and objectives are met
- Control overtime in line with Business Plan
- Works closely with the Quality Department to assure control over product internally and externally
Education, Skills & Training Requirements:
- Hot Stamping experience is mandatory and a non-negotiable
- High School Diploma or GED
- Hands on experience working on Tooling and Dies in a heavy industrial environment
- Experience managing 40+ employees in a Tool Room
- 4-year Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship is highly preferred
- 6 years in the trade in addition to the 4-year apprenticeship
- 2-4 years of supervisory experience
- Project Management experience
- Ability to access tooling both in and out of machines
- Ability to read complex tool and die designs and prints
- Ability to communicate well with others
