TECHNICAL WRITER
Technical Writer needed for a well established manufacturing company in the Oak Ridge and Knoxville, TN area. Starting pay rate will depend on experience, education, and training. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Technical Writer in a similar manufacturing or engineering environment.
Job Summary
The Technical Writer provides editing/formatting support to engineering staff to document design verification activities, engineering technical reports, and manufacturing/service procedures. This position will focus on creating editing/formatting/finishing comprehensive technical documentation and support record-keeping activities necessary in the world of medical device compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Document Engineering Design Activities
- Working with Engineering staff to document project plans, inputs (requirements/specifications), design reviews, outputs, and verification and validation protocols and results.
- Support Engineers with editing of verification and validation protocols.
- Editorial review of individual test steps for each specific requirement.
- Editorial review of Engineering Technical Reports.
- Incorporate Engineering information into a standardized technical report format.
- Development and Maintenance of Engineering Library.
- Develop and maintain a library of example images to use in manufacturing and servicing procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in Technical Writing, English, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of professional experience as an effective technical writer, ideally within a regulated industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Audience Adaptability: Proven experience writing clear, precise documentation tailored to diverse audiences (e.g., auditors, manufacturing technicians, field engineers).
- Subject Matter Mastery: Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, synthesize, and translate complex engineering and scientific concepts.
- Collaboration & Execution: Strong track record of working effectively with engineers and managing multiple concurrent projects with high attention to detail.
